Batara Group’s Transformation: Delivering Quality Products with Exceptional Service

According to him, the company’s consistency and product innovation have enabled it to compete successfully in the market. He believes that to survive and succeed in the building materials supply industry, a company must possess strong quality and competitiveness, while continuously adapting to an increasingly modern, younger, and dynamic market.

“From the very beginning, Batara Group was founded by the first generation with a primary commitment to fulfilling the public’s need for quality building materials and helping people realize their dream of owning high-quality products that can create safe, beautiful, and comfortable dream buildings,” said Daniel Surya Tandi.

Reissa Siregar, Commercial Director of Batara Group, added that in its 53rd year, the company is undergoing a business transformation by enhancing its corporate image while introducing Batara-branded building materials to a wider audience as part of its ongoing business development.

Over time, Longtjing Tandi went on to establish a gypsum board manufacturing company called Thai Gypsum, which was later acquired by a global company from Thailand.

Meanwhile, Toko Batara, which continues to operate and serve customers today, has significantly expanded its business scope under the name Batara Surya Semesta, focusing on the distribution of quality imported building materials.

“To date, Batara Group has established distribution points across Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Greater Jakarta), and Semarang (Central Java), serving customers throughout Indonesia,” she added.

Reissa Siregar stated that as a company that has built its reputation since 1972, Batara Group remains optimistic about Indonesia’s economic growth in 2025. This optimism has encouraged the company to continue expanding its distribution network, including plans to open new distribution points in Surabaya, East Java, and Bali.

As part of its commitment to supporting accelerated development across the country, the company views strengthening building material distribution in Eastern Indonesia as a strategic priority.

“Equal development is not only about quality but also about providing equal access across all regions. Through the addition of a new distribution point in Surabaya in the near future, we aim to ensure the availability of reliable and efficient supplies of quality building materials. Our strongest presence is currently in Greater Jakarta and cities across Java such as Semarang, Yogyakarta, Solo, and Surabaya, as well as outside Java in regions such as Lampung, Balikpapan, Makassar, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua, in addition to East Java,” she explained.

The company serves both property project and retail segments through modern retail channels, including Mitra10 and Depo Bangunan. At present, demand from the project segment remains slightly higher.

“Until 2024, our business was still dominated by projects because we handled major developments such as Paramount Land, Metland, and Ciputra Group. Around 65% of our sales came from projects, while the remainder came from retail. In 2025, the composition could become more balanced because we have expanded more aggressively into retail stores,” Reissa Siregar concluded.
