55 Years of Batara Group: A Journey of Growth and New Steps in 2026

August 13, 2026, marks 55 years of Batara Group’s journey in Indonesia’s building materials and construction industry. What began as a small building materials store in the Pinangsia area has continued to grow and evolve alongside changes in the business landscape and market needs, shaping Batara Group into what it is today.

From a Building Materials Store in Pinangsia

In 1971, PD Batara Surya opened its first building materials store in Pinangsia, marking the beginning of Batara’s trading business. The store is still operating today and remains part of the company’s long history.

Ten years later, in 1981, PD Batara Surya became PT Batara Surya Semesta. As the business continued to grow, the company established its head office at Delta Building to support its expanding operations.

Over the years, Batara expanded beyond a single line of business. Various subsidiaries and business lines were established and developed in response to changing market needs.

In October 2024, these business entities were brought together under a single identity: Batara Group. This marked a new chapter for the company after more than five decades of growth and development.

Introducing New Products in 2026

As Batara Group celebrates its 55th anniversary, the company continues to expand its product offerings to meet the increasingly diverse needs of the building materials and construction industry. One of the key developments in 2026 is the launch of two new products: Flatz Roof and Viscobond.

Flatz Roof is a stone-coated metal roofing tile designed to provide an alternative roofing solution for a variety of building applications. Its textured stone-coated surface offers a practical option for different roofing needs.

Meanwhile, Viscobond is a high-strength construction adhesive designed for a wide range of installation applications. Offering strong adhesion and practical application, Viscobond can be used on various materials, including wood, walls, aluminium, mirrors, ceramic, and UPVC.

These two new products complement Batara Group’s existing portfolio, which serves a wide range of construction needs, including waterproofing, insulation, sealants, soundproofing, ventilation, and other building materials.

Strengthening the Distribution Network

In 2026, Batara Group is also expanding its distribution network. The Surabaya branch officially opened earlier this year to support distribution activities and serve customers and business partners in East Java and surrounding areas.

In addition to Surabaya, Batara Group is also preparing to open a branch in Bali. The new branch is expected to further strengthen the company’s distribution network while making its products more accessible to customers and business partners in Bali and nearby areas.

The expansion of its branch network is part of Batara Group’s efforts to bring its products closer to customers and strengthen relationships with customers and business partners across Indonesia.
