Batara Group Expands into Eastern Indonesia, Broadens Distribution Network for Quality Building Materials
Batara Surya Semesta (Batara Group) is undertaking a comprehensive business transformation through expansion into Eastern Indonesia.
In 2025, Batara plans to extend its building materials distribution network to Surabaya and Bali.
The addition of these distribution points is also intended to serve regions such as Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.
Daniel Surya Tandi, President Director of Batara Group, stated that the company aims to introduce a variety of innovative building materials products to the national market while actively contributing to the acceleration of development across Indonesia.
"We are committed to providing quality products and excellent service," said Daniel Surya Tandi on the sidelines of the IndoBuildTech (IBT) exhibition on Wednesday (July 2, 2025).
Expanding Market Segmentation
Since its establishment in 1972, Batara Group has been recognized as one of the pioneering distributors of various quality building materials brands in Indonesia.
The company originated from a small building materials store called Batara, located on Jalan Pinangsia in Central Jakarta, founded by Longtjing Tandi.
After five decades, Batara Group has grown into a national company with a distribution network covering the Greater Jakarta area and Semarang, Central Java.
Meanwhile, Reissa Siregar, Commercial Director of Batara Group, explained that as of 2024, sales transactions were still dominated by large-scale property projects, including high-rise buildings, residential developments, industrial estates, and hospitals.
Some of Batara’s key developer partners include Paramount Land, Metland, and Ciputra Group.
Reissa is optimistic that Batara Group’s expansion into Eastern Indonesia, particularly Surabaya and Bali, will broaden its market segmentation through modern retail channels such as Mitra10 and Depo Bangunan.
"Until 2024, 65% of our sales were still dominated by projects, while the remainder came from retail. In 2025, the composition could become evenly balanced because we have entered a wider network of retail stores," she said.
To capture the millennial and Gen Z markets, Reissa stated that the company will optimize its online and digital channels.
"Millennials and Gen Z prefer detailed product information. They need to understand why they should buy a particular product. Therefore, we continue to educate consumers according to each product segment," she added.
Showcasing a Range of Innovations at IndoBuildTech (IBT) 2025
In addition to its expansion into Eastern Indonesia, Batara Group is also broadening its market presence by showcasing a range of products at the IndoBuildTech (IBT) 2025 building materials exhibition held at ICE BSD, Tangerang.
Batara Group presented several flagship brands in the premium segment that have been available for more than 20 years, including:
- Casali and Wisproof – Waterproofing membranes
- Polyshield and Polynum – Roof insulation products
- Ozvent – Turbine ventilators
- Viscous – Sealant adhesives
- Duorock – Mineral wool insulation
- Smartcubic – Phenolic boards
During IndoBuildTech 2025, held from July 2–6, 2025, visitors were able to experience these innovative building materials solutions firsthand.
"Batara Group’s participation in IBT provides an opportunity for us to interact directly with industry professionals, stakeholders, and consumers," concluded Daniel Surya Tandi.
